Ship Spotlight: Icon of the Seas

Last month, on January 25th 2024, the world-renowned sports icon Lionel Messi debuted Royal Caribbean’s newest mega-ship, Icon of the Seas.

The icon of Icon christened the ship at a standout naming celebration in Miami. Messi, the only eight-time Ballon d’Or award-winner and TIME’s 2023 Athlete of the Year, inaugurated the highly anticipated vessel with a bottle-breaking fit for an icon that has set records in its own right.

Icon is “the ultimate multigenerational family vacation”. It’s sleek, environmentally kind with its liquified natural gas power (LNG), and, as of December 2023, easily weighs anchor as the world’s largest and grandest cruise ship of all time.

At 1,196.7 feet, Icon can hold three football pitches laid end to end. Its 7,600 passengers sail comfortably in 2,805 cabins. A crew of 2,350 caters to your every need with a guest-to-staff ratio of 3.2 to 1.

What’s onboard? Well, a lot! Icon of the Seas hosts 18 passenger decks, including 40 restaurants, cafes and bars, 7 pools, 9 whirlpools, 6 record-breaking waterslides and 8 distinct neighbourhoods, such as Thrill Island, Chill Island, Central Park, Royal Promenade, and The Hideaway, each designed to offer unique experiences for guests.

Please don’t try to stifle your laughs at the Comedy Club. Gravity-defying artists skate, spin, and launch their incredible axels on Absolute Zero’s ice rink at night. Inspired, you too can bundle up and glide across the ice.

Refreshed and re-energised? Strut your stuff and sizzle at Boleros’ salsa-stepping party. ¡Caliente!

Tuckered out? Snooze like a baby in your cabin as Icon glides through the waves, leaving little trace in its wake with its planet-friendly LNG-generated power.

Wake up and smell the coffee! While your friends are off to the Sports Court, Running Track, Pools, exercising in Fitness Classes to stretch those overworked muscles, or hitting the links for Mini-Golf.

In need of some retail therapy? High fashion, fine jewellery, and Swiss timepieces, among many other luxurious goods, are tax and duty-free.

Before modelling your latest purchases, indulge yourselves in the rejuvenating Spa and Fitness Center. Treat the little ones to the Aqua Park so that they can burn off all that excess energy. Then, ladies and gentlemen, kindly slip into your finest duds so you can hit the Royal Theatre in style!

Icon stands as a testament to the epitome of excitement on the high seas. As you envision “living the dream” aboard this magnificent mega-ship, consider the seven pools and six water slides that transform the ship into the largest waterpark at sea.

Don’t miss the chance to turn your cruise dreams into reality; take the first step towards your next adventure by booking or inquiring about a future cruise on Icon with us today. Sail away into a world of unparalleled adventure, where every moment is a testament to the extraordinary!
