Barbadian Elegance Sets Sail on P&O Arvia

P&O Cruises is set to elevate the Caribbean cruising experience for the 2023/2024 season on board the luxurious P&O Arvia, as it introduces an exclusive collection of jewellery crafted by renowned Barbadian designer, Ichia Tiyi. Starting December, passengers can immerse themselves in the allure of Tiyi’s creations, featuring a stunning array of silver cuffs, bracelets, rings, necklaces, and earrings available for purchase onboard.

In a unique and cultural addition to the cruise experience, Ichia Tiyi herself will grace Arvia every week in Barbados, engaging passengers with insightful talks about her artistic journey and the inspiration behind her exquisite jewellery designs.

Tiyi’s artistic prowess was recently celebrated when she was commissioned to fashion a one-of-a-kind gold cuff and necklace for Arvia’s godmother, Nicole Scherzinger. This bespoke creation was presented to the singer during the ship’s official naming ceremony in Barbados this March.

With a career spanning since 1993, Tiyi’s approach to jewellery design involves utilising materials indigenous to Barbados, resulting in unique pieces that embody a sophisticated energy deeply rooted in traditional craftsmanship. Her commitment to excellence was recognised in 2001 when she clinched an award for the Caribbean region in the Commonwealth Arts and Crafts Competition. This accolade opened doors for Tiyi to explore her craft further, leading her to study metal product design at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana, West Africa. In 2011, she earned the prestigious Design Caribbean Award for Best Innovation and Creativity.

Expressing her excitement about the collaboration, Tiyi shared, “It is so thrilling that P&O Cruises guests will have the opportunity to acquire my handmade jewellery on board Arvia. Each piece is crafted with love in Barbados, offering passengers the perfect way to cherish the memories of their holiday on our beautiful island.”

Embark on a journey of elegance and craftsmanship as P&O Cruises invites you to discover the allure of Ichia Tiyi’s Barbadian-inspired jewellery aboard the magnificent P&O Arvia.
