What To Pack For The Land Of Fire & Ice

The Ship Ahoy group’s 2022 Landlocked Event in Iceland is fast approaching. In preparation for our trip to this nordic gem in the northwest, here’s All Aboard Ship Ahoy’s packing guide to help you stay warm in the land of fire and ice.

Before we begin, here are a few things you should know:

  1. During all seasons, the weather in Iceland can change quite rapidly; it is possible that you may experience all four seasons in one day.
  2. November marks the beginning of Iceland’s winter season. Temperatures during this month range between 8°C and 1°C (46°F and 33°F).
  3. Due to the mass deforestation caused by the Norse settlers from 800AD, trees are scarce in the country, which can cause the rain to fall horizontally.

It is essential that before you travel to Iceland, you invest in suitable clothing that will keep you dry and warm as you explore the country. Layering your clothes is ideal as it will allow you to modify your attire to suit the range of temperatures you may experience during the day.
