Canadian Passport Holders
UAE
- Travel Document Requirements
- You must present a valid passport for entry. Travel documents must be valid for at least 6 months upon arrival. The UAE government does not accept 12-page emergency passports for entry to the UAE.
- Visa Requirements
- A note from Emirates: “Nationals of Canada with a normal passport do not need a visa for a maximum of 90 days in a period of 180 days.”
- A note from Travel.gc.ca: “Tourist visa [is] required (on arrival). If you’re entering the UAE as a tourist, you must get a visa on arrival at the port of entry. This visa is free and allows you to stay for 90 days within a 180-day period. The 90 days start from your first entry date, whether you stay continuously or not, and must be used within 180 days.”
- Dual Nationals Information
- Passengers with dual nationality must arrive and depart with the same passport.
- Gender Restrictions
- Passengers must have a travel document with gender “F” or “M” to enter and transit. Passengers without Male or Female in their passports will be denied boarding or entry.
- Vaccine Requirements:
- From Travel.gc.ca: “Make sure your routine vaccinations are up-to-date before you travel, no matter where you’re going.
- These may include vaccines for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio, varicella (chickenpox), meningococcal disease, seasonal flu, and others.
- Proof of a Yellow Fever vaccination is required if you are coming from or have transited through an airport of a country where yellow fever occurs.”
- Medication
- Certain prescription and over-the-counter medications that are legally available in Canada, such as codeine and psychiatric medications, are classified as controlled substances in the UAE. It’s illegal to bring them into the country, even in small quantities, without prior permission from the UAE Ministry of Health.
- If you attempt to bring banned medication into the UAE without prior approval and required documentation, you may be subject to:
- confiscation of medication
- heavy fines
- jail sentences
- You must get approval in advance from the UAE Ministry of Health. Apply online to bring medication to the UAE. The UAE authorities advise that applications are usually processed within 5 working days.
Mauritius
- Travel Document Requirements
- You must present a valid passport for entry. Travel documents must be valid for at least 6 months upon arrival.
- Visa Requirements
- No visa required.
- Prior to your arrival, you will need to complete an arrival form within 15 days before travel. More information will be shared with you in December.
- Vaccine Requirements:
- From Travel.gc.ca: “Make sure your routine vaccinations are up-to-date before you travel, no matter where you’re going.
- These may include vaccines for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio, varicella (chickenpox), meningococcal disease, seasonal flu, and others.

Madagascar
- Travel Document Requirements
- To enter Madagascar, your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 6 months after the date you arrive. It must also have at least 2 blank pages.
- Visa Requirements
- There is no VISA fee for stays of less than 15 days. You may be required to pay an administrative fee of 10 Euros for border control formalities.
- Vaccine Requirements:

MAYOTTE (FRANCE)
- Travel Document Requirements
- Your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months after the date you plan to leave Mayotte.
- Visa Requirements
- Tourist visa is not required for stays up to 90 days.

TANZANIA
- Travel Document Requirements
- You must present a valid passport for entry. Travel documents must be valid for at least 6 months upon arrival.
- Visa Requirements
- Visa required.
- Your visa can be obtained on arrival (at the port) or online at LINK. For cruisers on the Stories of Stone Town Tour, we strongly recommend completing the visa application online prior to your cruise.

SEYCHELLES
- Travel Document Requirements
- You must present a valid passport for entry. Travel documents must be valid for at least 6 months upon arrival.
- Visa Requirements
- Seychelles is a visa-free country; however, all passengers are required to apply for an electronic Travel Authorisation (TA) prior to travelling to Seychelles.
