Northern Soul of Mauritius (Post Cruise) Tour Overview
⦿ Date: Tuesday, 20th January 2026
⦿ Step back in time and uncover the island’s rich and varied heritage on this fascinating tour, taking you through charming towns, lush gardens and historic landmarks.
⦿ Your journey begins in Cap Malheureux, a picturesque fishing village at the island’s northernmost point. Overlooking the stunning turquoise lagoon and the distant northern islets, this spot is famed for the Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice Church– better known as the “Little Red Church” thanks to its iconic red roof. Built in 1938, this chapel still welcomes parishioners and visitors alike, and its striking setting by the sea makes it one of Mauritius’ most photographed landmarks.
⦿ After, you will continue to Pamplemousses, a village named after the pamplemousse plant – a citrus species introduced by the Dutch from Java centuries ago. Here you’ll visit the renowned Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden, the oldest in the Southern Hemisphere. Established in the 18th century as a tropical outpost for the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, the garden soon achieved international acclaim and was once hailed as “one of the marvels of the world”. Spanning 33 hectares, it is both a tranquil retreat and a conservation haven, home to an extraordinary collection of flora with over 823 species of plants to admire.
⦿ To end your tour on a tasty note, savour a delicious Mauritian lunch at Le Fangourin Restaurant (own expense), located within the L’Aventure du Sucre sugar estate, where the flavours of the island come to life amidst a unique historical setting. After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight.
